According to the World Health Organization, cancer will overtake heart disease as the world’s top killer by 2010. Rising tobacco use in developing countries is believed to be a huge reason for the shift, particularly in China and India, where 40 percent of the world’s smokers now live.
I have known a few people who had succumbed to cancer. Instead of getting scared, we owe it to ourselves to be well-informed about the possible ways that we can combat the dreaded disease. Healthy habits begin inside our home. We should influence our family members to practice a healthier lifestyle. My father used to be a smoker when I was a kid, but I was very glad that he was able to quit smoking. He would tell us that he regret the day he tried it. He was able to inculcate in our minds that smoking won’t do us any good.
