Poland Mourns: President Killed in Plane Crash

It was proclaimed a week of mourning in Poland. On April 10, 2010, Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria Kaczynski, together with 95 others died in a plane crash.

According to Russia’s Emergency Minister Sergei Shoigu, 88 out of the 97 people that died, were part of the Polish state delegation. The group was heading to Smolensk, Russia to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre.

When I was in college, my roommate who majored in Social Science, would often tell me how she adores Pablo Neruda’s poem. Today, I learned that World Poetry Day is celebrated every March 21. I have to admit I did not know that before.

Let me share here my favorite poem of the great Pablo Neruda:

From – Twenty Poems of Love

I can write the saddest lines tonight.

Write for example: ‘The night is fractured
and they shiver, blue, those stars, in the distance’

The night wind turns in the sky and sings.
I can write the saddest lines tonight.

Ex-boyfriend Rob Fusari Sues Lady Gaga

Rob Fusari, ex-boyfriend and former producer of Lady Gaga (Stefani Joanne Germanotta), filed a a 30-million-dollar lawsuit against her. He claimed that he had been denied royalty payments after their break up. We have Rob to thank for creating the name Lady Gaga for the Grammy-winning pop singer. There’s still no official comment from Lady Gaga’s camp regarding this issue.

Manny Pacquiao Wins Over Joshua Clottey

In the “”Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey boxing match” held at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Pacquiao won by unanimous decision. The Philippine pride was able to retain his World Boxing Organization Welterweight title. His victory was quite expected.

Clottey’s defense was good but he failed to fight Pacquiao aggressively. He was just absorbing the punches thrown at him by Pacquiao.

Pacquiao outpunched Clottey 1,239 to 399 and outlanded him 246-108.

Happy Valentine’s Day

To be honest with you, Valentine’s Day is not something that really excites me. For me, it’s just another ordinary day. (I sound so jaded lol!) In my opinion, we don’t really need a Valentine’s Day to express how much we care for our loved ones. Everyday can be a Heart’s Day if we choose to. What makes this day different from the rest? This day has been too commercialized. I am sure Valentine’s Day is one of those days dearly anticipated by chocolate and card manufacturers, and flower shops. This day make singles feel why it sucks being single. Just kidding! But really, I am not that anti-V Day! To my dearest readers, I still want to greet you a Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope you have a great time with your loved ones.

Boyzone member Stephen Gately recently passed away. It was such a tragic loss to the music industry. I grew up listening to the songs of this Irish Boy Band. Stephen Gately has such a sweet voice, and I am sure he will be dearly missed by his fans. Rest in Peace Stephen!
